I have found our new FAVORITE healthy snack just in time for summer! I had heard about frozen grapes from a friend at least a year ago, but thought that can’t make a big difference, can it?
Let me tell you!
Frozen grapes taste better
I don’t think I’ll ever eat regular grapes again LOL! I really think freezing them makes them taste better. It’s like little sorbet popsicle bites!
I wasn’t a big grape eater before I tried freezing them. They just weren’t my favorite fruit. But NOW, I think they are top of my list!
Even both my boys who are 10 & 14, LOVE them. I have to keep our freezer stocked with gallon ziplock bags full. Now, if you have very young children and you’re worried about choking, you might want to slice them before freezing.

Frozen grapes are the perfect healthy snack
If you have a sweet tooth or struggle with snacking too much this just may be your new best friend.
Besides just being simple grapes with no added sugar, since they are frozen it forces you to slow down and take your time!
Frozen grapes save on food waste, saving you money!
Did you know that Americans throw away 40% of their food? Holy cow, we waste so much food. We might as well dump 40% of our groceries in the dumpster before we get home….
Especially when it comes to fresh produce and not paying attention to the stuff that’s going to go bad soon in our fridge. (which pro tip, you can freeze just about anything so if you think you’re not going to use something up, throw it in the freezer to use for something else later!)
I know for me it seems like everytime I would buy a bunch of grapes, we’d end up throwing away at least 1/4 of them because they went moldy before we could finish them.
Well, freezing grapes saves you money because they don’t go bad!
What are the best grapes to use for freezing?
It’s really your preference as to what grapes you want to use to freeze. My kids and I like red grapes, but green grapes would make a nice sour treat! I hear moondrop grapes are AMAZING frozen so I can’t wait for those to be in season in our area. You could even mix & match and have 2-3 different kinds mixed together!
How to make frozen grapes
This is about as simple as it gets, which I LOVE.
- Wash grapes under running water in a colander.
- Remove grapes from stems & place in a gallon ziplock bag. (I don’t even bother drying, I just shake off the excess water)
- Seal bag, removing excess air and place in the freezer.
- Freeze for at least 5-6 hours or overnight.

To make it easier to get the grapes in to a ziplock bag, I like to use these baggie holders that hold the bag open so I can be hands free!
