Are roasted chickpeas good for you?
Absolutely! Chickpeas, also known as garbanzo beans, are a very healthy & nutritious bean with tons of fiber, vitamins, minerals, & antioxidants. Beans are one of Dr. Fuhrman’s superfood G-BOMBS which are great for boosting your immunity, fighting cancer and infections. G-BOMBS are Greens, Beans, Onions, Mushrooms, Berries, & Seeds.

Do you have to boil chickpeas before roasting?
No need to boil if you are using canned! If you are using dried chickpeas, you will need to cook them before you roast them. I’m a big proponent of simple & easy, so I use canned beans for convenience. Be sure to choose low sodium or no salt added for your crispy roasted chickpeas. You will want to rinse and dry them, and this will remove any added sodium.
Are roasted chickpeas good for weight loss?
Heck yeah chickpeas are good for weight loss! Since chickpeas are loaded with fiber & micronutrients, they are a very filling and low calorie snack. This Crispy BBQ Roasted Chickpeas Recipe is also high in protein for an awesome post-workout snack! Just make sure to not add any oil – that is just empty fat calories that will hinder weight loss!

Are canned chickpeas healthy?
For sure! Just make sure to use low sodium or no added salt varieties. Look for BPA free cans as well. I buy organic canned beans so that they tend to be lower sodium & BPA free. If you can’t find low sodium, just rinse them really well to remove added salt.
Why are my roasted chickpeas not crunchy?
If you’re BBQ roasted chickpeas aren’t crunchy enough, you probably need to cook them longer. Everyone’s oven is different and can also depend if you patted them dry really well before cooking. I roast my chickpeas at 400° F for 10 minute intervals for a total of about 30-40 minutes until they are crunchy enough for me. Be sure to watch carefully those last 5-10 minutes so they don’t burn….I’ve done that…..
