Sometimes you just need a little chocolate, am I right? And luckily dark chocolate is HEALTHY and loaded with antioxidants! It only gets unhealthy when we starting adding a bunch of junk to it like dairy & sugar. And a simple way to get your chocolate fix without the guilt is with this 5 Minute Vegan Chocolate Hummus!
If you weren’t aware, most store-bought hummus has oil added to it, including the dessert chocolate hummus I’ve found. (If you don’t know why all oils should be avoided including olive oil & coconut oil, then check out this post all about oil).
I had bought the chocolate hummus as the store a few times for my kids, but had stopped buying it because of the added oil. Then last week, I had finished prepping some fresh strawberries & offered them to my youngest son. He asked about having them with the chocolate dip and I realized I could probably make it! So I did and it turned out even easier & better than expected!

I make vegan chocolate hummus in a food processor with an S-blade. I have a cheap Hamilton Beach like this one & it works GREAT!
You can use a blender if you don’t have a food processor, but you’ll probably have to scrape the sides down a bit more often.

Hi Kim, I was looking at your post today and came across your recipe for chocolate hummus. I discovered chocolate hummus at the grocery store years ago but also came to the same conclusion that there is just too much extra stuff added to the commercial brands and I found that some brands were very inconsistent in their product. So I was pleased to come across your recipe and discovered that your ingredient list is almost exactly the same as the recipe I developed for myself. The only difference is that I put a tablespoon of peanut butter in mine to give it a smoother flavor. My husdband and have been eating whole food/plant based most of the time for about 4 years and are happy that we are healthier for it. Thank you for all of your great recipes and advice about living and eating healthy!
You’re so welcome!
