This simple garlic cashew cream sauce recipe is so versatile and easy to make. This recipe is only 4 ingredients & takes 5 minutes. From creating vegan Alfredo pasta sauce or vegan cashew sour cream for tacos, this delicious Nutritarian recipe will surprise even non-vegans!
Recipes with Cashew Cream Sauce
I’ve used this basic garlic cashew cream sauce in so many recipes and I’ve found the balance that I prefer for the cashews to almond milk ratio. It’s a nice creaminess without being too runny. I also prefer to use plant milk as the liquid. I’ve seen other recipes that use water or vegetable broth and I didn’t like it as much. Make sure to use unsweetened plant-based milk.

I personally have a Vitamix high-speed blender and I do NOT soak my cashews. If you don’t have a high powered blender or food processor however, you may want to soak them for at least 15 minutes in the milk before blending to soften them.
You can store this sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

For us difficult people with nut allergies, LOL, are there substitutes that can give similar results? I would to try this recipe! THANK YOU
If you’re looking for a nut-free alternative to cashews for a vegan cream sauce, there are several options you can try. Here are a few substitutes:
Sunflower Seeds – Sunflower seeds are a great alternative to cashews. They have a mild flavor and creamy texture when blended. Use them in the same quantity as cashews in your recipe. You might want to soak them beforehand to help with blending.
Tofu – Silken tofu works really well as a creamy base for sauces. It has a neutral flavor and blends to a smooth texture, making it a great option for cream sauces. Use it in a 1:1 ratio to replace cashews.
Coconut Cream – If you enjoy the slight coconut flavor, coconut cream can be a great substitute. It’s very creamy and works well for both savory and sweet sauces. Use it in equal proportions to cashews.
Oats – Blended oats can provide a smooth, creamy texture without the nuts. They’re a good option for a neutral-flavored cream sauce, and they won’t overpower the taste. Use about 1/4 cup of oats blended with water for every 1/2 cup of cashews.
Cauliflower – Cauliflower is a fantastic option for making creamy sauces without nuts. It’s mild in flavor, blends easily, and can be steamed and then pureed to create a smooth texture. It’s a great option for a lower-calorie cream substitute.
Pumpkin or Squash – Cooked pumpkin or squash can be blended to create a thick, creamy texture for sauces. They are particularly good for adding some natural sweetness and earthiness to your dish.
